In 1963 was the record attendance 18,000 people saw Valur FC having draw against Benfica. Benfica was one of the best soccer team in the world at that time and won the Champions final the year before. In 1997 they built a new box that took 3,500 people and put seats in the old one so all together it took 7,000 people. It's not big for a stadium but in Iceland lives only 280,000 people so that's pretty big for us (Icelanders). In 1998 Iceland played one of the best games ever when France came to Iceland. France were the World champions and this was the first game they played after the World cup 1998. All the tickets sold out in one day so the(y) rent(ed) two small boxes from Sweden that took 1,500 each. And we got a draw against France and we celebrated liked we had won but the France team walked slowly out of the field. And this game saw 10,800 people.
